What is this thing that is the rage of people that they even call themselves CrackBerrys? I decide to get myself one of these sleek BlackBerrys. The first thing I do is study the carriers for the kinds of BlackBerry models they have. While I’m at it, I also check the service and the range and signal of the carriers. I go to the forums and read advice and opinions from BlackBerry users around the world.
I settle for the BlackBerry Bold 9000 Black Unlocked GSM Cellular Phone. My question now is what is the difference between a locked and an unlocked Blackberry phone? It seems that a wireless handheld device that is locked cannot use any other carrier’s SIM card. What a shame if my smartphone, which has a quadband GSM, a HSDPA 850/1900/2100, a 3.5mm stereo headset jack, a 480×320 65k screen, a microSDHC slot, a 128 MB size of flash main storage, a 624 Mhz CPU, a 1 GB size of extended storage, an EDGE, has a Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP support, is Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g capable, has a standard mini USB 2.0 port, a 2 MP camera with flash, and a built-in GPS; what if all these features cannot be used if I ever decide to switch carriers, for the reason that it was a locked phone. Good thing I got the unlocked one.
But wait! In the forums, I learn a neat unlocking trick. The unlock code can be bought from vendors on the internet. A set of instructions come with the unlock code. Following the steps correctly will make a BlackBerry phone unlocked, just like mine.
